Andy Vertrees
Andy Vertrees has been recruited by Bluegrass Motorsports Club as Director of Operations.  He will oversee the bidding phase, construction process, and ensure a smooth transition to operations while helping recruit members of a hand-picked team that will assist in operating the facility on a day-to-day basis.  Andy, the former Director of Operations for the Kentucky Speedway and current Chief Operating Officer of Iowa Speedway is recognized as a national leader in organizing motorsports facilities from inception to operations.  His success as one of the top developers, promoters, and operators in the country comes from 30 years of experience.  As a result, the figures and data presented by Andy during the development of a facility is based on what actually happens, and not what national averages suggest.  In short, Andy will save us money.

Andy is the most sought after race track operator in the U.S. and we are fortunate that he has chosen Bluegrass Motorsports Club as his next project.  He has served throughout the entire process of the planning, development, construction and scheduling of the Kentucky Speedway, and Iowa Speedway, the nation’s newest speedway.  Since Iowa Speedway’s opening in September, 2006 this unique oval and road course has raised the bar and set new standards for the design and operation of motorsports facilities.  Andy’s finishing up at Iowa this week and he’s excited to come back home to KY.

In 1995, Andy’s peers voted him as the Auto Racing Promoter of the Year by Racing Promotion Monthly (RPM), the foremost authority of independently owned race tracks in North America.  Andy also received the regional award from the organization on four past occasions.  In addition, he has also been the recipient of the Best New Race Track Award in 1989, after overseeing the design, construction and operation of Louisville Motor Speedway which Jerry Carroll purchased prior to developing the Kentucky Speedway.
